My name is Ashley and welcome to my personal blog!
Here you will find stories of places I've been, people I love and things I make.
Often times traveling makes me feel small in this big world, and Israel did make me feel small...but it also made me feel dumb and ignorant. [...] And even though that sounds like a terrible feeling, despite it all, it was actually exciting, powerful, and intoxicating and all I wanted at the end of the day was more. [...] I had quickly become obsessed Israel.

We somehow ended up hiking 6 miles through this place and had to quickly get back on the road so we could make it to Boise by a reasonable hour. By about 1:45am we drove into Boise which is great because we made it...just not at a reasonable hour. And if you asked me how we managed to wake up at 4am, drive to Utah, hike 6 miles and drive until 1:45am the next day, I would have no answer. But we did it, and we were exhausted.
I remember the phone call like it was just this morning. It was around 6am and Kiesha called me – and she never calls me, especially not at 6am so I think she must need some help. I quickly answered the phone and she says, “Ashley, Sarrah is dead. She got in a car accident and she is dead.”
Sometimes I still worry about it coming back, but that only encourages me to again, love harder and exist harder every day that I get to wake up and experience life.
