It happened guys. I got offered an opportunity to have one of my own discount codes. You know what I am talking about, the "use my code 'wildflower' to get 10% off!" The kind of code that all the former Bachelor girls use for their FabFitFun boxes. And what is even more surprising is that it was from a legit company.
This company reached out to me one evening letting me know that they would like to offer me a paid partnership with them. The way it would work is I would get their items at a discounted price and then make a commission off of what people bought using my code. Easy enough, right? So I did some more research and learned that this brand is a Canadian based company trying to get a presence in the US. Checking out their website I quickly noticed that they had an eclectic collection of items, some I loved and some that just were not me. But I could definitely try and "sell" the items I did love...and it would be an excuse to get a few new items at a discounted price...
But I decided I would give myself a night to think on it because 1. I didn't want to come off as desperate and overly excited and 2. I wanted to be really sure that I was confident in what this company had to offer before recommending and selling their product to others.
After talking this through with David and a friend it actually didn't take long to come to the conclusion that I was more excited about the opportunity than the company itself. When I realized this I knew it was not going to work out, which was pretty disappointing.
Reading and learning about content creating I am discovering what I want my "brand" to represent. If I am going to collaborate with another brand I do not want to do it simply because it makes me feel good or because I want to have "my own code." I want to work with a brand that truly represents me and what I like as well as a product that I am proud to share with you. Without you and your support I wouldn't have brands reaching out to me in the first place - so if I am going to work with a company I want to keep all of you in mind as well. So for right now I will continue working on creating because it is bringing me so much joy and I am hopeful that other opportunities will come my way.
